How much of my spare money should I gamble?
There’s no single right answer, but keep it small — many people use around a tenth of what’s left after bills and savings. If there’s nothing left over, the right budget is zero.
Should I set a daily, weekly or monthly limit?
Whichever matches how you get paid and how you play. A monthly limit equal to your budget is simplest; a weekly limit spreads it out.
Why is the hourly cost so high when the house edge is small?
Because the edge applies to every stake, and on fast games the same money is re-staked many times an hour. Turnover, not your deposit, drives the cost.
Can I lose more than the average?
Yes. The calculator shows long-run averages. In a single session results swing widely, so set a deposit limit you’re comfortable losing.
Is this a diagnosis?
No. It’s a private self-reflection tool. If you’re worried, a helpline adviser or doctor can help you think it through.
Do you see my answers?
No. Your answers stay in your browser and disappear when you leave the page.
What is the Limits score?
A rating out of 10 for how well a gambling site helps you stay in control. It’s built from nine safer-gambling tools — such as deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion — each worth a published number of points. Bonus size doesn’t count.
Is Bet With Limits free to use?
Yes. Our reviews, guides and tools are free. We may earn a commission when you join a site through our links, but it never changes a score or ranking.
Who is this site for?
Adults aged 18 or over (or the legal gambling age where you live) who choose to gamble and want to stay in control. If you’re worried about gambling, start with our help page.
Do your tools store what I type?
No. The budget planner, cost-of-play calculator and check-in run in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to us.
What’s the best limit to set first?
A deposit limit. It works before you play, by capping how much money can go into your account each day, week or month.
How quickly do limits take effect?
Lowering a limit usually works straight away. Raising or removing one normally has a cooling-off wait, often 24 hours or more.
How often do you update reviews?
We re-check reviews regularly and show the date of the last check at the top of each one. Tell us if you spot a change.
Can I suggest a site to review?
Yes — use the contact form and choose “Get your brand reviewed” or “General question”. We only review licensed sites.
Can you help me with a complaint against a gambling site?
We can’t act for you, but we can point you in the right direction. Start with the site’s own complaints process, then its regulator or approved dispute-resolution service.
